St. Luke School recognizes that every child is wonderfully and uniquely created, and that each child, therefore, may have different needs in achieving his or her God-given potential. To enhance each student’s educational, social, emotional, personal, and career development, St. Luke offers both an academic assistance program and a guidance and counseling program.
The academic assistance/intervention program is a school-wide systematic process that aims to identify students who are struggling and then uses targeted teaching to help them catch-up. This additional targeted teaching is most often provided by the student’s classroom or content area teacher. Students may also be assisted by our Intervention Team. This team may be comprised of our school's counselors, intervention coordinator, reading and math specialists, classroom teacher(s), and school administrators.
The intervention program is a process aimed to help our school focus on high-quality interventions that are matched to an individual student's needs and monitored on a frequent basis. It's when the school provides targeted teaching - called interventions - to help stuggling students catch up. The information gleaned from intervention process is used by teachers to adapt instruction, and to make decisions regarding the student's educational program.
The guidance and counseling program is available to all students and is managed . by Ms. Brenda Quintanilla. Mrs. Marrah Gonzalez also provides services and counseling lessons for students.
